mrp who?
mrp is short for Mr Portman. My CV can be found here. I am a school teacher who began building websites in 2004 to add an extra dimension to my teaching.
Since then, my websites have begun to play a large part in my everyday teaching, including: providing homework links, downloadable templates and forms for children to work with in the ICT suite, a depository for my planning (better than carrying a memory stick around) and, in 2006, an advanced, interactive, class rewards system based on the popular marble jar concept. This latter item evolved into a system called W.I.R.B.s in 2007.
In addition to sites built under the mrpdesigns brand, I have built websites for various clients whose businesses range from drinks consultancy to journalism to tourism, under the brand name The Last Pixel (a joint venture with Kate Ennis, a freelance drinks and travel journalist / graphics designer).
Accessibility
All my websites are built to be accessible to all visitors. They remain functional under the following situations:
- Text enlargement in the Internet Explorer, Opera and Firefox browsers.
- Javascript being disabled in the above browsers.
- Stylesheets being disabled in the above browsers.
- Users with colour-blindness.
- Users requiring the use of screen readers
- Users with poor motor-control.
- Recently, with the purchasing of IPAQs for my class, my websites are becoming mobile internet friendly (not many websites can boast this).
Validation
All my websites are written in valid XHTML 1.0 and checked using the W3C validator.
The sites are only built using CSS and never use table-based design techniques.
